Frequently Asked Questions: What is Aerial Photography Services' range of operation? I offer services within Virginia and West Virginia, travel distance is factored into pricing quotes. How do the results compare with traditional aircraft/bucket truck services? The customers most often value the photos I offer from around 50 feet up to 500 feet up. The bucket truck services generally fall below that, and the airplane based services generally are limited above that. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results of this unmanned aircraft system. Is satisfaction guaranteed? I guarantee that the photos are reasonably level, properly exposed, and blur free. I do not guarantee the absence of atmospheric haze, or complaints where a certain photographic angle was not taken that could have been. Sometimes a photographic angle will not be available due to safety concerns, the client must accept such a limitation if it presents itself. The client is always welcome to be present to preview the photos on the scene. What are the available photo editing/modification services? Some quality editing of photos takes place with all sessions. Modification of photos, such as yard object removal, lot lining, and street draw-ins are available if desired How soon after a photo session does a customer receive prints/CD's? A temporary website is set up for the client to download low resolution pictures, usually by the evening of the photo shoot. I mail the CD within one day. Prints, if ordered, are generally ready to ship or deliver within three days after a photo session. What is the nature of the copyrights on photos? All photographs taken are copyrighted as property of Aerial Photography Services LLC. I allow customers to print their own photos off of the provided CD, and to distribute the photos for marketing purposes via print or website. Photographs may not be re-sold by the customer however. Are there disqualifying factors for a session? Some settings which may be unsuitable for this service include those properties located under a treeline, near airports, or in urban areas. Each location is assessed on a case by case basis. How long has Aerial Photography Services been in business? Development of the concept and unmanned helicopter systems began as a business project by Eric Fernandez in late 2003, an operational system has been in service since 2004. Are panoramic aerial photographs offered? APS is very near completion of the processes to reliably make panoramics, they will be offered soon. How large of a lot can be framed in a picture taken by this unmanned helicopter? I operate the helicopter from ground level up to 500 feet up, so in very approximate terms the helicopter can take photos of up to 100 acres of land with a good downward angle. When lots over 100 acres are photographed, entire property photos will have a diminished downward angle. Are there methods available for photographing from higher altitudes? A GPS autopilot guided airplane system is complete and in the final stages of flight testing for this. I expect placing that aircraft in service during 2008.
